Catch-up Post
OK, so we’ve been so busy lately I haven’t been writing about all the cool things that have happened here. Soooo… it’s catch-up time:
- We went to the Colorado Rockies game on Friday and loved it. The stadium is a lot more intimate than Petco Park. As soon as you walk in, you get this really nice old-timey baseball feeling. We’re going back soon.
- The boy lost his first tooth. It was wiggly for what seemed an eternity and then it finally fell out last weekend. The tooth fairy visited and left him TWO DOLLARS! I know, I can’t believe how much I got ripped off as a kid either. The tooth fairy is going to have to take out a loan or something since the boy still has like 30 teeth to go.
- Speaking of the boy, he just finished his second set of swim lessons this Summer and he did really well. We pretty much can let him swim on his own now sine he can tread water and swim facing up or down into the water. He did some backstroke in this class and got to start practicing diving too.
- Kim and I have been getting more stuff for our daughter-to-be lately too. We got a new stroller and two new car seats this last week. Our 3rd bedroom here is pretty well decked out now. It was fun trying to remember how to open/close the “Pack N Play” play pen again the other day.
- We visited the Denver Museum of Science and Nature recently with our friends Carol & Mike and I really liked it. I asked if there was any way I could move in there. They have an amazing variety of cool displays on everything from space to prehistoric times to wild animals to ancient egypt. There is a planetarium and an IMAX movie theater too. We all watched a great film on the coral reefs and how they’re dieing off around the world. Really impressive.
- Today we went to a place near downtown Denver called Sloan’s Lake Park for the annual Colorado Dragonboat Festival. It’s a celebration of all Pacific and Asian cultures and was a lot of fun, although it was pretty muggy outdoors today. We say a dragon parade, the dragonboat races (with about 20 people in each boat) and heard groovy drumming. The boy liked the funny magician the bets, he tells me.
- The biggest upcoming news of all, of course, is that we’re expecting to receive our referral letter from our agency sometime in the first week of August.
That’s it for now. Take it easy, y’all.
