New bike!
This is my new Trek bicycle, a birthday present for me from my family. It is the 7.2 FX model and is really really great! I got to go to Wheat Ridge Cyclery here to pick it out over last weekend. I was so excited, I rode it home from the store, with my new helmet on, of course.
The bike is called a Hybrid because it’s combination of mountain bike and road bike. The frame is aluminum and a lot of the componentsĀ areĀ the same as you’d find on a mountain bike. The wheels are 29″ diameter so that means I go farther with each pedal stroke and I also ride way up high, for better visibility. The shifting is really smooth and reliable – so much better than my last bike. the seat post even has a little shock absorber built in, to smooth out the ride. The whole bike is very light and really a blast to ride. It’s easy to go fast, even up hills.
I can’t wait to take this thing on a nice long ride. I’m gearing up for commuting to work on it too. Thanks the super b-day present, honey!
The boy reading…

…”Tiggers Can’t Climb Trees” all by himself.
The Pooh books are very popular around here. Today, instead of me reading to him, the boy read all the way through this wonderful (classic) Pooh book. His favorite line from the book is where Pooh and Piglet realize that Tigger and Roo are stuck way up in the tallest of the Six Pine Trees, and we read:
“Piglet, what shall we do?” And Pooh began eating Tigger’s sandwiches.
That just cracks him up sooooooooo much. Pooh is the best.
Squirrels do not give back rubs
This whole web site gives me the creeps like you cannot believe but this particular image is truly unsettling.

It’s from sugarbushsquirrel.com.
This is wrong, wrong, wrong. It’s people like the folks who made this monstrosity of a web page that make the world a bad place. Hitler would have liked these images. If you visit this site and think this is cute, well, you’re helping the terrorists.
I think you get my point here.
