KenDucky Derby 2007

without comments

My Kiwanis Club’s KenDucky Derby was yesterday and man! That was a lot of work. It rained like mad in the morning and then got hot and a bit muggy throughout the rest of the day. We were outside from 7:30am till about 5:00 but it was all worth it. We entertained some families and had a lot of fun goofing around as always.

Here are the pictures:

I’ll try to enter some more detail into this post as time permits.

From Naboo To Tatooine

without comments

We made another movie this weekend. This time, it’s off to Naboo for a monster battle and we then blast off for other adventures, maybe even on Tatooine! (I smell a sequel in the making)

We did this one with the Sony camcorder and a stage here in the office. We decided not use to stop motion this time, so instead we just shot ten-second clips, with real-time voice overs “in camera”. As before, we used Windows Movie Maker 2 to splice it all together and edit in Titles and Credits. We added a little John Williams soundtrack music for effect and there it is.

I especially like the “ha hoo hee” parts by the boy. He built all of the Lego ships and monsters himself. A masterpiece!

New Doggie Door!

without comments

Louie in the new doggie doorI got a doggie door for the boys to use today. We wanted the kind that inserts into the existing sliding glass door out the back but they don’t make them tall enough for our door. So I got the regular flap kind and installed it into the door that goes from our garage to the backyard. After the really easy installation, it was time to start getting the dogs acclimated to it.

One at a time, I pushed them through the flap and then tried to entice them back in with treats. Caesar was really stumped at first but reluctantly used it when it became clear I wasn’t going to help him get the treats. Louie did a good job, slow at first and then really picked it up with a few tries. I’m actually more concerned about Cheezer using it now than the Luser. I guess we’ll see how they act as we continue to train them. This page has some good advice for getting through that process.

Here is a slide show of Louie trying it out for the first time.
