Did you know?
Do you know that according to wikipedia, CNN and this site, about 2,992 people died in the tragedy that was 9/11 (not the 5 or 6,000 that was initially reported in many places).
Do you also realize that according to this site, the Washington Post and CNN the American death toll from the War in Iraq is now over 3,200 (3,500 by some counts). And that’s just the American deaths.
Damn.
Luann’s Aaron Hill is real?
OK, this isn’t the sort of thing I normally write about, but the oddity of it is just too much to ignore.
According to the CA Registered Sex Offenders web site, there is a guy here in San Marcos named, Aaron Hill. He lives here in San Marcos (maybe) and this is also the home town of a comic strip called Luann’s creator, Greg Evans. That comic strip has a main character also named Aaron Hill (pictured here).
I’m sure Mr. Evans is not aware of the coincidence, but still. Isn’t it odd how life does this sort of thing every now and then, or is it just me?
Listening to music

So, I’m thinking a bit today about how I listen to music. First, because last night I got really excited when I found a new CD from one of my favorite singers, Kristin Hersh, on eMusic.com, my current legal source for music online. The thing was though, I had already grabbed the entire set of of songs and they were already on my iPod even. Somehow, I completely forgot about it after I grabbed it.
That’s obviously the down-side to electronic music files – nothing physical to attach to in my brain. I never held the CD case or album sleeve in my hands so I completely forgot about it not long after the downloads were complete. That’s the first thing that’s got me thinking about this today.
The other thing is that my much revered iPod’s hard disk is nearly full now. I have about 200 MB of free space left, which means it has about 18 GB of music on there. At some point, how much music do I really need? Whenever this iPod (name: Shiftless) diesI will have to get a new one and that will be a bigger hard drive, but still. I have about 4,400 tracks on this thing now. Shiftless tells me that’s about 7 days of consecutive listening to hear it all.
I have a voracious appettite for music but at the rate I really do listen to tunes, that would take me forever. Plus, I’ve listened to a good chunk of that many many times already.
I’m seriously considering dropping my eMusic account for now. We’ll see…
Twirl-A-Squirrel
This youtube video shows a hot new product. It keeps the evil ones off of your bird feeder by sensing their weight on the feeder and then starts rotating around. The aim is to make the squirrel so dizzy they have to jump off. Those who have followed the evil works of the varmints known as ’squirrels’ by the untrained, know that this is nothing more than a temporary fix. You can be sure the evil ones are already in training to improve their balance and stamina in this never ending war. Watch the video and decide for yourselves, America.
